On Wednesday, June 27 the Regents will approve the University's operating budget for 2007 to 2008. At noon U of M AFSCME is standing together for a rally and lunch outside the Gateway Building. We are putting the Regents on notice that everyone deserves to make economic progress—not just the people at the top.
Only by standing and fighting together can we change this policy which forces far too many of us to work second and third jobs just to put food on the table, while senior administration are paid obscene amounts of money taken from the pockets of students and hard working Minnesota tax payers. The only way to make a difference is by standing and fighting together. When we join together and speak in one voice the University will listen. Don’t be SOL - join us on Wednesday for the rally. Lunch is provided. A flyer is attached.
Clerical, technical and health care workers have been turning out in record numbers for our noon information meetings. The information presented at these meetings shows how our salaries have not kept up with inflation while the administration continues to experience huge windfalls, some as high as 79%.
